• Auditions for 2020-2021 School Year

    Dear Students,

Please read all the information below and download the material for the 2020-2021 Vocal Arts Auditions! Auditions are only for Bel Canto (Intermediate Women’s Chorus), A Cappella (Advanced Women’s Chorus), and Madrigals (Advanced Mixed Chorus). If you are interested in singing and don’t want to audition, please sign up for either Men’s Chorus or Women’s Concert Choir. You can do this by contacting me and giving me your name and student I.D. or visiting your Academic Advisor. If auditioning for Madrigals, this audition is just the initial audition. After all auditions have been completed I will select 30-40 students to participate in a Call-back audition. Those auditions will take place on May 20th and 21st.  Students called backed for Madrigals must be present at both auditions to be considered for the group. More detailed information is in the audition packet below!

    Incoming 8th Grade Students

Incoming 8th grade students interested in auditioning for SCHS Vocal Arts should first sign up for either “Concert Choir” or “Men’s Chorus” with their academic advisor to ensure they have choir in the schedule for next year. Next, they should download the audition packet below and the National Anthem. To sign-up for an audition please come to the SCHS Choir Room (701) and put your name on one of the open time slots on the sheets posted outside the room. Sign up sheets will be posted two weeks before auditions. You can also email Mrs. Daniel for an audition time. Room 701 is located in the front of the campus very close to the parking lot. We are right next to the band room and the band program has a mural painted on the wall of the building facing the parking lot. You can sign-up for an audition beginning May 1st. Auditions will take place May 20th and 21st from 3pm-5pm in the SCHS Choir Room. If you are not able to make it to sign-up for an audition, please email me at [email protected] and let me know a day and time you would like to audition and I will be happy to add your name to the list.

    Current SCHS Students

Current SCHS students interested in auditioning for SCHS Vocal Arts should download the audition packet and the National Anthem (Only if you are interested in auditioning for Madrigals…signing the National Anthem is not required if auditioning for Bel Canto or A Cappella). To sign-up for an audition please come to the SCHS Choir Room (701) and put your name on one of the open time slots on the sheets posted outside the room. You can sign-up for an audition beginning May 15th. Auditions will take place between May 21st-May 22nd from 3pm-5pm after school in the SCHS Choir Room. If you are not able to make it to sign-up for an audition, please email me at [email protected] and let me know a day and time you would like to audition and I will be happy to add your name to the list.

What do I have to do in the audition?

First, do not think of this as an audition! Think of it as an 8 minute voice lesson with me (Mrs Daniel). Each student is asked to sing the National Anthem, do simple warm-ups and a few rhythmic and melodic memory games with me. This is to see what voice type you are and how well you can remember simple to complex rhythmic and melodic patterns.

Do I have to prepare anything?

If you are auditioning for Madrigals, you must sing the National Anthem. Please download the sheet music below. While practicing the National Anthem I suggest you sing it in a style of a classical/opera type singer. I am looking for correct notes, rhythms, words, and tone. Please save the pop versions for when we do Triton Idol!

What should you bring to your audition:

    1) 2019-2020 Audition Packet

    2) Teacher recommendation form (You need two of these).

    3) Print out of your transcript off of Aeries (minimum 2.0 GPA required for auditioned ensembles).
